Abstract
This study investigates the incidence of language learning anxiety among the bilingual population using psychological theories and empirical research in bilingual education. Through a mixed-methods approach that included qualitative interviews and quantitative statistical tests, the study identifies the causes of anxiety and their impact on academic performance. The quantitative component is a survey of bilingual students at different proficiency levels, comparing the co-relation between anxiety levels and academic achievement. The outcome indicates that emotional aspects, such as fear of negative judgment and a lack of sufficient self-confidence, significantly undermine the process of language acquisition. The findings highlight the need for specially formulated interventions that address both the educational and psychological aspects in an effort to enhance bilingual pedagogy. Finally, the study investigates the implications on curriculum design and makes suggestions for further research aimed at investigating the relationship between bilingualism and language learning anxiety.
